There are four elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. Computers are in almost every classroom as both technology and the arts are fully integrated into the curriculum. The four elementary schools all have the same curriculum, emphasize individual learning, and offer a variety of teaching styles. The elementary school serving Larchmont is the Chatsworth School. The three elementary schools serving Mamaroneck are: the Murray Avenue School, the Central School and the Mamaroneck Avenue School. Special programs include ESL courses, extensive special education services, science/space curriculum. Larchmont and Mamaroneck share the Hommocks Middle School and Mamaroneck High School (MHS). There are approximately 1,400 students in the high school, 14 advanced placement college-level courses, 12 honors courses, four foreign language programs including Chinese and over 200 courses. Students may also participate in business internships and the student TV station. The P.A.C.E. program is also unique to MHS and offers a four-year performing arts curriculum focused on: dance, drama, TV and music. The high school is the winner of the Rockefeller Brothers' Fund award for "excellence in arts education." The Town of Rye portion of Mamaroneck Village has its own school system it shares with Rye called the Rye Neck schools. There are over 11,000 students in the City School District of New Rochelle, accommodated in one early childhood center, six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. The core staff of 1396 is complemented by specialists in reading, learning disabilities, nursing, psychology, social work, speech and hearing clinical services and, at the secondary schools, guidance counseling. Special programs include magnet elementary schools that feature the humanities, math and science, communication arts, and the performing arts. The district also provides extensive special education services, programs for English Language Learners (C.I.L.A.), a comprehensive arts-in-education and K-12 computer literacy programs, a unique space science curriculum, model full-and part-time gifted programs and innovative dual-language programs beginning in kindergarten. The Rye City School District includes three elementary schools serving grades K-5. All three of these schools have received the National Blue Ribbon of Excellence award. The three elementary schools are: Midland, Milton, and Osborn.
